In 2006, Matt was working for a contractor at Red River Army Depot and was facing another layoff. It was at that time that Matt realized he wanted to learn a trade that could last him a lifetime. At that time, he enrolled in the HVAC program at Texarkana College where he graduated that Fall.
In the first three years after college, Matt worked for a local company that specialized in refrigeration, food equipment repair, and heating and air. He later accepted a position that focused solely on heating and air, where he significantly enhanced his skills in HVAC troubleshooting, service calls, and equipment installation. After two years in this role, he decided to pursue his own HVAC licenses in both Texas and Arkansas.
After having a conversation with his neighbor who was a local firefighter, Matt was inspired to attend fire school and work in heating and air conditioning on his days off. Starting in the summer of 2012, he explored the Fire/EMT program at Sulphur Springs. Matt successfully completed both courses at the academy and was prepared to launch his new career. However, upon earning his firefighter certification, he struggled to find a job, which led him to the decision to start his own business.
Lone Star Heating and Air was created in the spring of 2013.
After three months of self-employment, Matt received an offer from the city of Atlanta, TX, to join their fire department. He began his firefighting career in the summer of 2013 while also working full-time in HVAC. For two years, he managed both careers but eventually faced the need to choose between them. Opting to focus on growing his business and spending more time with his family, Matt decided to leave firefighting behind. Although he enjoyed his time as a fireman, he is pleased with his decision to prioritize his company.
Matt has always prioritized family in his business operations. His children enjoy taking photos with their pets while holding Lone Star Air signs, and his wife, Lacey, handles all the bookkeeping. Passionate about the HVAC industry, Matt concentrates on residential and light commercial work. With a dedicated crew, he ensures that every job is completed efficiently. Matt also became a Trane Dealer after starting his business and is enthusiastic about promoting their products, believing they offer the best equipment on the market.
For a family-owned and operated business that puts family first, Lone Star Heating and Air is the ideal choice for all your heating and cooling needs.
